General

I was privately educated and worked for many years as an airline pilot after completing national service
in the RAF. My son lives with his wife (English) and their 3 children in New York. My elder grandson also
works in NYC after graduation while my younger grandson is at university. My granddaughter is in high school
and graduates in the summer of 2014. Meanwhile my daughter lives in West Sussex and is a writer and broadcaster. I live alone in Devon and enjoy gentle walks, visiting the seaside and countryside-in the car!-to admire the views. I do appreciate gardens but I am no gardener. I play bridge regularly and used to play chess but haven't played for years. I enjoy good conversation over a good dinner with suitable liquid refreshment. I like to think I'm amusing with a good sense of humour - somebody who doesn't take himself too seriously who tries to find the best in everyone and every situation. "Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone".

My Appearance

I am 6ft 3ins tall with grey hair combed back (no parting) and weigh, wait for it, 18 stone. I am, I admit, a big man but it's all proportional. I think so anyway. I wear glasses for reading and have all my own teeth! I'm also incredibly good looking, truly a lady's dream. OK, I made this up. When required I wear suits and ties but usually dress casually. I do not wear jeans or trainers.
