Grateful

Living with and seeing my husband 24/7 during lockdown has made me really appreciated the relationships outside of my marriage. Feeling seriously grateful for some of the wonderful people I've met on IE over the years ❤️ Just wanted to put that one out there!

The lockdown is changing things in lots of ways. Making bread at home, dealing with stuff around the house and garden that I've been putting off for years, talking to the neighbours, sorting out my record collection, talking to the kids more, talking to my other half less, chatting on IE without being able to meet up, etc....... Doubt whether things will ever be the same again after lockdown is over. Hope not.

Lovely comment. I have been lucky to talk with nice people on here. Haven't been lucky on here during lockdown yet, but I feel more relaxed just knowing that this place is here even if just to talk!

Reading this thread has reminded me that in a previous existence I went through a serious family crisis and my IE friend at the time gave me more genuine support than all my friends and extended family.

Definitely grateful for the man I’ve met recently on here!

It’s been lovely knowing I’m making someone smile -means a lot to me - especially as I’m apparently unable to do that at home!

Lockdown for me has highlighted how much happiness I seek from elsewhere - friends,family, an ie.... because it’s quite a lonely existence at home!

@Proeye

How true, and how common! Many couples are so busy with work and children, domestic routines and paying bills to actually have the time or opportunity to have a proper in depth one to one meaningful relationship.

As you rightly point out, holidays simply suspend reality for a week or two. That's why we have them of course!

I'd be highly delighted if my other half spent more time here with me and less time travelling the globe with his career.

The pandemic has highlighted just how little he values our relationship.
And this is why I am here.

I found that after nearly 20 years of marriage 24/7 has opened my eyes to the sheer scale of my other half’s negativity.
I work(ed) 6 days, so only had snippets before and holidays are obviously artificial.
It’s nice to come somewhere where people are open to at the very least chat or get away from the humdrum.

Midnight incantation .Not everyone stays in a marriage because of status or homecomforts ,sometimes people are ill or there are other ties .Everyone's situation does not lend itself to a split .You did the right thing for you but sometimes it takes courage to stay ,not leave .

@sumfun20

What you describe is common and normal in most long term marriages. The initial mixture of love and lust inevitably morphs into a friendly ( Hopefully!) companionship and its not likely to change. It becomes a " Marriage of convenience" which is held together by practical routines and financial expediency. Although this is worthy in itself, excitement is simply impossible to resuscitate and its best not to try as it will feel disingenuous. It must be found elsewhere. Some take up exciting hobbies or travel to exotic places but if an exciting and fulfilling sex / love life is something you can't live without, then there is no effective substitute for a discreet affair with the right person.

Do try to keep the peace at home though and appreciate the positive benefits that you and your wife share by being together.
