Agree with you about Video chats that's not for me and would not do it I will not meet anyone either till pubs etc are open

The take away coffee and walk in the park makes absolute sense including can your proposed IE actually meet, is real, geography is practical, chemistry check.
Good idea even after Covid, in fact its what I used to do for IE years ago.
Saves time and cash, sorry, on what will be some hard work lunches.
Keep first meet real and short.

If you both arrange to meet at a mutually agreed location go for a walk in a public place like in a park or near body of water ie a lake or a canal walking and talking would be an ideal situation for you both to get to another without feeling nervous or awkward as you both agreed on meeting there... As the other comments suggest walking together in an open public place wouldn't look odd or strange as you could be a couple out for a long walk which is allowed during lockdown phase 2 even stopping off to pick up a hot or cold drink on the way. That way you will both know if it will work out for you both to take the next steps once the lockdown comes to an end......

I’m at this point too.
I’m not making plans to actually meet until after lockdown. I’ll use the time to get date ready and get to know him more.
I’ve got a video call planned for Thursday though... the nerves are kicking in!

If the chemistry is off the scale you are going to have to be very strong to resist a kiss so it depends if you can do that .You are not breaking lockdown rules meeting a friend for a walk.

Go for a walk in a nature reserve, wear a hat and your mask and you could probably walk past your entire family and not be recognised!

But definitely, meet for walks in parks, arboetums or nature reserves. Hotel meets will have to wait until they're open again but it will be so much better after this time of a gentle getting to know each other. An affair is still a relationship and all relationships benefit from the investment of time and authenticity. Especially as so many profiles say they're looking for one regular person who's a friend.
