About Me:

I live in a land of hills, woodlands and dark skies in an old cottage in the Scottish Highlands, where I grow a fair amount of fruit and vegetables, keep a few bees and gather my own firewood for the stove.

I like laughter, music, collie dogs, blizzards, northern lights and wild swans, apples and red wine, making bread and roasting chestnuts, sharp frosts, the lucent greens of spring and the overwhelming colours of autumn and the shape of land, old trees and wrinkled stones, lakes and mists; words, silence, night. And ... the profile of a smile; eyes; touch, softness, tenderness, passion; intimacy and daring.

I’m reasonably well behaved: I smile at policemen, am polite to vicars, only call someone an idiot if they deny climate change or evolution, try to moderate my zeal for draining the European wine lake, bathe more frequently than Queen Elizabeth I, buy a new pair of trousers at least once a decade and always take my Wellies off before getting into bed.

On the other hand, I do bark back at dogs, cycle on the wrong side of the road, like leaping naked into Highland burns, sing in b-flat minor, quote Eliot and Dylan, am befuddled by waltzes and, umm… have been known to exhibit (slightly) more romantic enthusiasm than the occasion merited.

Ideal Partner:

I would like to find someone, perhaps from a city, who would like to visit occasionally, just for a few days at a time. I cannot offer more than this part-time arrangement, but I would hope that, for you, having someone in a beautiful quiet place that you could go to for a complete change when you needed it, could be something that you would grow to value, as would I. As you can imagine, I'm not able (or wanting) to offer the sort of things that cities provide - restaurants, night clubs, cinemas etc., but there would be hills and rivers and woodlands to explore, and meals to prepare together, and I would listen to anything you may wish to tell me, and treat you kindly. But you should remember that would be coming to a fairly isolated place, with no artificial lights visible and very little traffic on the nearby minor road.
I would hope you to be sensitive, slender, not interested in over-consumption or status: passionate, tender and open to new experiences.
