Language
Does language constitute an obstacle in dating the other party, for people whose language is weak because they are new to the country?

Coummcation is the key word; helps if they understand the English language,

Yes! Not much more to add really.
Texting is fraught with difficulties at the best of times due to it being unable to transmit the subtle nuances that make up 80-odd percent of full communication.
Face to face; not a problem. But texting? Much care needed!

It is hard enough to avoid miscommunication when both parties speak the same language so I would be wary of meeting someone with whom I don’t share a mother tongue.
Alhough perhaps it would work out better because we would have to make sure we were both correctly understood. I have a passion and talent for languages and I have sent opening messages in French and German before now

I’m of the opinion true intimacy requires the spoken, or written word and wouldn’t want to get involved with someone not fluent in English or willing to patiently develop my French. If you are just after a shag then enough common language to communicate enthusiastic and ongoing consent are probably adequate.
